JOINING THE COMMITTEE
The society needs you!
Nominations are now open for places on the 2018 committee.
'Are you ready to help?'
As a 'self managed' allotment, it is the BEAS Committee that runs the site on behalf of Bournemouth Borough Council.
The Committee is made up by a volunteer team who are plot holders with the allotment society.
Having this Committee affords our Allotment Society certain freedoms and more of a say in what happens with the local council.
It means taking responsibility for a significant chunk of the management and maintenance, and also raising funds to pay for ‘extras’, such as the recently replaced storage container, and the new 'woodchip bays' opposite the shop building.
Q: How do plot holders become Committee Members?
A: They get themselves nominated and elected at the Annual General Meeting.
