The times they are a-changing – and so is the shop!
We’ve been talking about it and now we’ve done it!
It seemed a shame that the use of the Big Green Shed was limited and the questionnaire you completed last year told us that additional facilities would be welcomed. We also hope to hold other events – perhaps (for example) talks for new Allotmenteers from the ‘old hands’, more regular coffee mornings and someone has even suggested a whisky tasting evening. The possibilities are endless!
The ‘Big Green Shed’ has been transformed into a shop area and a communal area. The shop area is open for purchases at set times as always but the other half – our ‘communal area’ - is now accessible at any time to members. The locks have been changed so that you can access the communal area with your gate key – this means you can make a cup of tea or coffee, use the microwave, access our library, have an an impromptu get together or just shelter from the rain.
The new community area was opened on Saturday 23rd March 2019 at a coffee morning in aid of Water Aid.
It was busy and buzzing. The general feedback was that members are delighted with the new look Big Green Shed and the opportunities it offers now.
There were cakes, teas and coffees and even a quiz testing our knowledge of water worldwide.
Last year we were very aware of our increased water usage (and therefore water bills!) owing to the very hot summer and we will be continuing to monitor our usage this year. Please could all plotholders make sure that they continue to be very vigilant about water usage.
